Economic Empowerment
Economic Empowerment programs support newcomers on their journey to gain financial stability and upward mobility. Our team provides intensive and personalized career development assistance for up to five years after refugees arrive in the United States.

I wish to express my sincere appreciation for CWS and the refugee program. (Our new hires via CWS are) wonderful additions to our team and I am grateful for your service. Thank you again.
Self-Sufficiency
Our employment program helps clients find family-sustaining job options while working closely with their employers to facilitate the hiring process.
Upward Mobility
Our Career Pathways Program is the first and only program providing comprehensive career pathways support to refugees in the Triad.
Our team assists more established refugees in obtaining the skills, knowledge, and connections to increase their economic mobility and advance within their chosen career pathway. We work with clients to identify goals, craft personalized career development plans, and journey with them through credentialing and job placement.
We foster community partnerships with employers, volunteers, and educational institutions to bolster the refugee and larger workforce development landscape in Guilford County. Our work has directly resulted in new apprenticeship and training programs for Guilford County residents.
We increase opportunities for employers to address barriers and challenges to upward mobility for low-income refugees (i.e. language skills, transportation, certification requirements, mentorship, etc.) to leverage this diverse community’s workforce capabilities.

Learn
Refugees make invaluable contributions to the Triad's growing economy as workers, consumers, and entrepreneurs. We have seen first-hand the positive economic impact that refugees have on our community, and the research backs us up: a report from New American Economy shows that refugees paid almost $21 billion in taxes in 2015 and earned more than $77 billion in household income!
