Commonly referred to as “green cards,” refugees are required to apply for Legal Permanent Residence Status after one year of living in the United States.
Sometimes refugees and immigrants need to travel out-of-country, such as to visit sick relatives or for work and school. The CWS attorney can make sure all of the appropriate documents are filed so that your immigration status is not jeopardized.
By the time that refugees arrive in the United States, some have spent their entire lives as stateless sojourners without the protection and security that comes with citizenship. After five years of living in the United States, refugees are eligible to apply for US citizenship.
