Internship Opportunities
Case Management Intern
Learn more about refugees and the many challenges they might navigate as they settle into their new communities. This intern will work closely with the case management team to provide direct services to newcomers. Tasks may include working with clients to ensure that their basic needs are being met, transporting clients to and from appointments, and working closely with clients to help meet their selfsufficiency goals.
Employment/Match Grant Intern
The Match Grant program aims to help new arrivals achieve self-sufficiency through paid employment opportunities. This intern will work alongside the employment team and play an essential role in assisting recently arrived refugees in securing their first job in the U.S. Tasks may include providing case management support, working with clients on job readiness skills, and developing relationships with area employers.
Cultural Orientation Intern
This intern will assist the Cultural Orientation Facilitator with weekly cultural orientation classes for new arrivals. Topics include housekeeping and food safety, personal hygiene, education, finances, the medical system and more. Tasks may include research and lesson planning, gathering materials and facilitating cultural orientation classes. Intern must be available Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Community Engagement Intern
Help to build connections for engagement with the greater Triad community! This intern will work with the Community Engagement team to assist with volunteer recruitment and management, securing and coordinating donations, and conducting outreach events to educate various community groups on the refugee resettlement process. Interns will assist with community engagement efforts as needed, which include grocery delivery, securing and organizing donated goods for newcomers and helping with home set ups for newly arrived refugees.
Refugee Wellness Program Intern
Intern will work with the Refugee Wellness Program Manager in assisting with providing mental health services to refugee clients. Intern will help develop Wellness program curriculum and assist with facilitating weekly counseling sessions with CWS clients. Intern will identify resources, support, and materials related to the Refugee Wellness Program. Intern will be providing needed services and learning more about refugees and the many mental health challenges that may arise during resettlement.
Community Organizing Intern
Report to and will work closely with the Refugee Community Organizer over a 10-week internship during the Fall 2024 Semester. Refugee community organizing equips refugee and immigrant community leaders to develop leadership skills, advocate for their right to belong, and build partnerships that create a more equitable society. Assist with local refugee and immigrant advocacy work, which may include: planning and facilitating outreach activities among refugee and immigrant leaders as well as strengthening civic engagement within new American communities through voter registration and mobilization.
Preferred Communities Intern
Help support new arrivals who require more intensive case management services through our Preferred Communities (PC) program. The PC Intern will work alongside the PC Case Manager and will assist with direct case management services which may include securing housing, ensuring basic needs are met, connecting with partnering community service providers, and assisting with job readiness skills.
