New Beginnings

New Beginnings is a social entrepreneurship project that engages refugees in developing skills and building community through small scale business ventures.

This winter, New Beginnings will delve into the world of holiday baking, bringing together home cooks from a variety of backgrounds to train and cook together in the traditional American style.  Our first tasting event will take place on Sunday November 13th at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church. Stop by the stand in the breezeway between services to sample treats and place an order.

For the pilot Thanksgiving Baking Project, New Beginnings will feature the following items:

North Carolina Pecan Pie                                   $15

Apple Cranberry Crisp                                        $15

Maple Pumpkin Cheesecake                             $25

Four Layer Coconut Cake                                   $20

Dutch Almond Torte                                            $25

Orders can be placed by emailing your order form (or simply send us an email with you name, contact info, and order; if you’ve paid online, include that in the body of the email) to cwsbeginnings@gmail.com.

You may choose to make a secure donation online through PayPal (please be sure to choose Greensboro, NC in the drop down box and bring a copy of your receipt when you pick up your order). Or simply bring cash, check, or money order to pick up. Make checks payable to Church World Service with “New Beginnings” in the memo line.

All Thanksgiving Orders must be placed by Sunday November 20th and will be available for pick up at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in the Haywood Duke Room between 8:30 – 10:00am or 4:30 – 6:00pm.
