Mosaic Festival
Join us to celebrate Greensboro’s second annual Mosaic Festival on Saturday, May 21, 2011!
Since 1972, Greensboro has welcomed more than 10,000 refugees. The Mosaic Festival is a great way to celebrate diversity and learn about the many cultures that are part of our community. It is celebrated in conjunction with World Refugee Day, which is a time to draw attention to the millions of people worldwide who have been forced to flee their homes and show support for the refugee population that has found a home here in our community.
Last year, more than 1,000 people came to the festival to enjoy our city’s cultural diversity. Festival-goers were able to see a variety of music and dance performances, sample food from around the world, and purchase crafts handmade by refugees, as well as learn about both the refugee populations that have resettled here in Greensboro and the millions of refugees worldwide that still have not found permanent homes.
There will be live music from and dance performances by local refugee and American artists, ethnic crafts, and food and drinks from around the world! Refugee displays will be arranged by country and origin, so you can tour different parts of the world and see a bit of their history, customs and crafts.
